By M. Srinivasa Rao
The ability or potential to transfer their thoughts, ideas and information from the sender to the receiver with the latter being understood the same effectively and efficiently is known as communication skills. It is one of the most flexible technical skills and their importance is increasing rapidly due to the complexity resulting from a higher technological invention.
In the terminology of the business, communication is the process of exchange of information from sender to recipient and vice versa. There are different types of communication such as downward communication, upward communication, horizontal communication, the communication section, oral communication, written communication, etc. In the downstream communication of information is people at the top level people in the level of subordination. Moreover, in communication with the upward flow of information from the lower level to the next level. In the horizontal information, flows of information are the people of the same level as their counterparts at the same level. In communication, information flow is from one level to another level that is either diagonally or in whole, without any hierarchical relationship. In verbal communication, the flow of communication that is transmitted orally at any level, and is one of the most effective, to communicate effectively with his body language in order to have a profound impact on the receiver. Whenever necessary to save the information in black and white, then people are going to written communication in which communication is through the mass mailing in written form.
All communication has seven elements, in addition to noise, which is known as the barrier to communication and can also be regarded as eight communication. The first element is the thought or idea, the second is the same encoding, the third is the message or the channel, the fourth in the message reception and decoding of the same is the fifth element, understanding the idea or decoded Thought is the sixth element and the last element and I. E. FINAL seventh element is the feedback between the receiver and the transmitter as a signal of confirmation of the communication. Any effective communication must have seven elements and the communication is completed with a combination of these seven elements. In the case if there is a gap between the transmitter and receiver, or vice versa, then there is lack of communication or miscommunication, or which is technically known as noise. The eighth element itself is to blame for the communication and all efforts should be made to eliminate it.
Every leader or manager must have a mastery of communication skills that takes time in any organization. Thus, he said, “Communication is the lifeblood of an organization.” The submission of all people connected to the organization and all activities are coordinated to achieve their goals and objectives.
The media is divided into verbal and nonverbal communication. Both oral and written communication falls into the lap of verbal communication. Nonverbal communication is divided into body language and sign language and is divided into the visual cues and signals. Obviously, oral communication is the exchange of ideas, thoughts and information orally and in writing if it is known that the written communication. A person must be strong, both orally and in writing. When an individual working in the capacity of a trustee, you must often make presentations and be able to offer the same effectiveness. Similarly, you may be asked to write reports on various projects or tasks and possession of written communication is a sine qua non.
It is said that 93 percent of our communication is body language and systematic study of body language is known as kinetic. It shows the impact of our body language. It is the combination of facial expressions, eye movements, gestures, posture, tone control and all of our physical characteristics. The spoken language is always supported by body language and there should be consistency in the oral and body language, otherwise it will lead to a credibility crisis. For example, when an autocratic manager of an industry of talks on the implementation of participatory management to fly following his office with a physical force is a sign of inconsistency in his body language to spoken language. In short, our body language reflects our true intentions, even unconsciously, can we speak consciously orally different. The body movements and gestures contain 55 per cent, the tone and inflection contains 38 percent, and the combination is 93 percent, reflecting the body language. While the remaining 7 percent are verbal communication. The combination of all percentages is 100 percent, which becomes the medium.
